engine oil dye safe for seals gaskets?
I had a leak for awhile all over now i changed the valve cover gaskets.rear main seal. Distributor o ring.oil pan gasket. And oil filter housing o ring.
I went to napa and bought a engine oil dye uv says for a.c, engine oil etc. and wondering if doing this add will it eat seals i already installed new seals.

Re: engine oil dye safe for seals gaskets?
Its the red dark looking dye. When i bought my parts a old guy a the napa counter told me that if i install new seals gaskets. Putting engine oil dye will eat the seals gaskets if i run it in my engine oil till my bext oil change. He said that it will damage gaskets.
I thik its bull.

It wont. But after you use it you are suppose to change your oil. But it will not eat seals. You already got leaks so theirs no way its gonna cause them. Im an ase certified mechanic. We use it all the time to find hard to find oil leaks
