Engine Electrical problem need help
Let me try to get to the point:
93 civic dx sohc motor 1.5l nothing fancy, just making a daily driver
First attempt to start the car the negative battery cable melted...
Second attempt after I put a better ground on the tranny to chassis
- nothing happens, power on than no crank than power completely disappear
and the battery, starter, alternator is good. All fuses are still good too.
Now when I put the power and ground cable on the battery it reads a negative volt, battery itself reads a 12+ with a voltmeter?
could it fried the ecu? main relay? wire harness?
Now I'm stump, I dont know what else could be wrong with the car.
Any input of advice would be appreciated it. Thanks.

does it turn over? did you take all those parts to an autoparts store for the test? or you have the equipment to do it? check all the grounds and battery terminal for tightness.

short... so would I have to replace the harness?
or should I try to disconnect everything like the alarm and some gauges?

connect the battery and take a electrical tester or test light and check for power at different places (ecu, starter, other places you can access)

You might have a short in the fuse box underneath the dash or there is an open in the wire somewhere along the line and it is grounding itself out causing the cables to heat up and melt. I would pull the fuse box and check it out , then I would check the fuse box and ignition switch. A bad ignition switch would have the potential to cause some problems. A bad starter relay could do the same thing. Becarefull until you find the problem , this is how cars catch on fire.

check to see if you are getting spark and fuel, are the plugs wet after cranking?
your battery need to be recharged it takes awhile and cranking draws a whole bunch of amperage out of the battery
