I have heard of many ways to cleaning your engine internals either by running tranny fluid instead of oil, running kerosene , spraying/misting water in your intake tube while at a steady rev, all sorts of ways. What is true? What are the pros and cons to doing these things also what other ways can accomplish a good cleaning? Feel free to add opinions and ideas to this tread to straighten out these myths

IMO, if you want to clean you internals out, get some type of magnetic drain plug, so it can collect the micro metal pieces. do a couple of oil changes earlier than usual, get a good oil and filter. and on fuel, run a higher octane as well.

like the examples you listed, i wouldn't try those things. those are the same things people try and then post up here "why is my car......". to keep your internals clean, just maintain a good habit on changing your oil on time.

I have also heard of sea-foam through brake booster line.

Maintain a strict oil chage schedule.
Run high grade quaility gas.
I woldnt recommend running any type of flush agent through the oil sys cause if the inside of your eng is dirty the flush could break the sludge into pieces that will wash down into the oil pan and possibly stop the oil pick up tube thus starving the eng of oil.
As far as running a cleaning agent through the brake booster I wouldnt recommend it cause if the cleaning agent is stout enough and it happen to run down into the brake booster it could prematurely deteorite the booster diaphram.

Many people have ran seafoam (1/3 brake booster cable 1/3 crankcase 1/3 fuel tank) and without a problem.

Have not tried myself but plan to. Most say you can feel a difference.

Only ppl that don't follow directions good will hydrolock their engine or mess something up using seafoam.

after i seafoamed.....i had so much carbon on my bumper....hopefully it came from my engine

heres some things i have done from experience first hand...........

run 1 qt of ATF (automatic tranny fluid) before a oil change. run your car for about 5-10 mins then drain and change your oil.

get a carbon flush.... helps clean all your valves from carbon deposits......

and you can get a fuel injector clean....(exspensive but nice to do 1-2 years)

and you can use carb cleaner or throttle body cleaner and spray some into the throttle body while car is off.... note not to spray the whole bottle into there. just a few sprays... if car doesnt not want to start give it some throttle while cranking... those are some of the things i do my cars to keep them running in great condition... and i have had no problems at all so far

also there is some product that will take the varnish off the internals and all. Just go to your local parts store and see what they have. Seafoam seems to be popular, but i have not tried it myself.

Indeed. I've ran it once, felt a slight difference? I don't know. Probably just my butt dyno. I didn't put it in the gas tank though.
