Default Emmisions help please

Failed WA state emmisions, it looks pretty bad

JDM B16a P30 ecu

new plugs, wires, rotor, O2 is a year old or so.
failed cruise so bad they didn't even run an idle test
let me know your thoughts from what the numbers show.

hc (ppm) co% co+co2 (%) o2%
Cruise limit 170 1.2 6 N/A
cruise emmisions 453 11.91 19.41 0.24
cruise result FAIL FAIL N/A N/A

any suggestions will help, i'm leaning towards the cat. because I ran my old d15b turbo on it before the swap. Thanks

Try seafoaming your motor, new spark plugs, clean air filter with water and soap and re-oil it back up and do a oil change too.. Thats the best i got. I passed Emissions cleanly with my D15B7 motor with all that done, and i have 200,xxx miles on the motor as well.

Is your cat still good? And before you went to test your car, did you run your car hard so that your cat can be in operating temperatures?

I ran the car hard before the test, I always run her hard . I'm not sure if the cat is good, I ran my turbo motor on it for about a year and i have a feeling that all the extra emisions from it may have rotted it out. I think I'm just gonna try one of those bolt on magnaflow replacement ones. I was just curious what everybody thought from the numbers if there could be any additional problems, or simply put, would a bad cat cause it to be that far over?

yea eff a magnaflow cat just get a stock one less worries. and the only thing that really "kills" cats is a car running too rich or if you drove it misfiring for a while. The excess unburned fuel causes the cat to overheat. **** all that tune up bullshit if your b16 is running fine and your not having any driveability issues then i would invest in a new cat, Or if you were cool and had a pyrometer you could tell me the heat differences before and after the current cat and i could tell you if it was bad.

also from those numbers it appears you are currently running rich it might destroy that new cat if you just toss it on there . do you have any cels ??

no cels at all. you think seafoaming the engine could have messed up the o2 sensor? i got a cel for an o2 problem a few months back but i reset the ecu and it hasn't come back since.

they also should have done the full test. they should not have ommitted the low rpm test just because you failed the high speed. thats

you could always check it if you have a voltmeter.

At my work we use this stuff from gm called top engine cleaner, same stuff basically and we run that through all kinds of cars for maintenence with no o2 problems. If you put too much at once it might throw a misfire code but thats ob2. so i wouldnt worry about that. i would look at coolant temp sensor, intake temp sensor, map sensor, ummm injectors sticking.... all these can cause a rich condition. So if all else fails and you cant figure this **** out may have to pay someone

that blows. here in texas if your poor and you cant pay to have it fixed after it fails emissions. the state will pay up to 600$ for emissions repairs on your car.

should switch between 1.23 volts and like .23 something like that. its the white wire coming off the ecu. the main thing is that it should be switching back and forth while the cars running.

the voltage represents how much oxygen is in the exhaust so if you have a real low reading constantly then it would be running rich.

hey man i live here in washington too. I battled with this on my built ls. I tryed to fix it all myself, and it didnt work out. YOUR BEST OPTION IS............ go take your car to a shop they charge you a 150 bux for a diagnostic test to tell you what should be fixed, then you take that to the Emission testing place and you get a WAIVER. instead of trying to fix it yourself, save the money you spendin on re-test and just get the waiver. i tryed to do it my way and ended up spending double. its the easyest fastest way to get it done bro, and its good for 2 years so that not bad. leme know if you neeed a hand or have a question about anything else.
