Emissions help!!
I have a 92 Civic EX 1.6 VTEC, and it tested barely over the limit for carbon monoxide, yet enough to fail. I have been given different advice from different local shops. One advised me that I should replace the plugs and plug wires. Another advised me that it I would need to replace the oxygen sensor. Another told me that I may need a new throttle body. So basically, every answer under the sun. Any knowledgeable, unbiased folk out there with some great advice (who are not just looking to sell an expensive uneeded repair job)? Thanks in advance!!

i dont know how emmisions work for you but i always thought obd1 cars only get checked for codes while being run for bout 5-10 mins. in IL only OBD2 cars get the exhaust hooked up to check for carbon monoxide so i cant help you there, all i had to do is reset the cel before i brough it into the test center.

Re: Emissions help!! (poison)
As far as my cat, I'd imagine that it's 10 years old since my Civic is a '94. I've only had the car for about a year. I just changed the plugs, air filter and more than likely, will be replacing the Oxygen Sensor this weekend. I'll try the test again and see how it goes. A case of trial and error I suppose.

if it is a little over like 100 a new cat will pass it for sure.. my gf car dropped 1300 on nox by changing the cat and 300 on carbon.. if it is 50 or so just add seafoam for 5 bucks.
