Default Emission Problems

So i failed the emissions test....barely. I was wondering what sort of small things i can do just to bump the numbers to make it better to pass. I have a b16 in my del sol, and when they read the VIN number it of course showed up as a d16, would that have anything to do with failing the test? maybe the b16 is allowed to be a little less emission friendly, idk. Yea i have too much carbon monoxide, so whatever lowers that will help. But like i said i barely failed, so if there is a way to make me run a little less rich, any info would be great, thanks.
