emergency -- need an answer
the trans on my 2000 EX is literally about to take a **** --- is there anyone in the ny/nj area with a manual trans for the D16Y8 motor that is in pretty decent shape
or i just called HMotors and they said they can part out a trans from a 95 EX for 250, good idea or better to try and stick with Y8 trans??
quick answers would be nice
ALSO -- would changing the trans fluid buy me a little driving time cause its my DD

Re: emergency -- need an answer (Probot)
My friend's got a Y8 in a totaled car at his garage - though I have no clue what kinda condition it's in.
Not to mention judging by the rest of the car I'd say it might be a bit beat .
I can take a look though if you want.
I live in Yulan, NY, about an hour, hour and a half from ya.

alright, a WHILE ago i down shifted to 2nd at 75mph by freak accident....i hit a pothole in midshift and i ended up in second instead of fourth and it fucked up the bearing in the trans...it was doing alright besides listening to the sound of bearing..but anyway...tonight driving i heard a tapping noise and no its not the motor or valves tapping..and while im in gear or if i push the clutch while in gear and give it gas the tapping sound happens and its pretty loud...not too sure how much time i have left on the trans...and it really sucks cause its my only car and im short as hell on cash right now --- its not worth it to have it rebuilt when i can buy a new trans for 200...not sure how much detail i can give cause you just have to really listen to it

yea, and its passed the whole whining bit, as soon as the car warms up you hear a tapping sound instead, i just wonder how long til the whole trans decides to die
