EM1? WOULD AN ALTERNATOR BURN THE ECU???? WIERD!
well first off... i have a 2000 Em1. It has a built JDM B16A. My first ECU was a SI-R jdm ECU with a JUN SPEC chip... my CEL came on about once a month... it would come one very rarely but noticed that it only came on especially when it was hot outside and when i am about to go to a stop and you let go of the gas and rpms come down... right when it hits 2,500 rpms it comes on and then i stay idled at 1,000 instead of normal 750... (which i believe they call that loop mode...) well i turned the car off, turned it back on and CEL wasnt there no more. It then started doing it constantly after a while and my car would bog like crazy... like if it was wanting to cut fuel and or turn off. After that i went to one of the local private tuner guys and he told me that the ECU was probably bad sooo he gave me another JDM ecu (it is stock or virgin i should say) it has been running fine... i have been driving on it for about 1 month now... but yesterday it did the whole CEL turning on again at about 2,500 RPMS.... WTF!!! LOL i turned the car off and back on and no CEL and hasnt came on since... but i really dont wanna mess this one up as well.... any help??? The guy told me that the Alternator was burning my ECU up... which i dont understand... he was saying something about the ELD??? i am using the OBD2 harness but have a jump harness to my OBD1 ECU.... any suggestions??? also my lights get brighter when i let go of the gas or turn on my signals to turn lol!! i dont know.... but please help before this one goes bad thanks!!!

If the CEL turns ON, then pull the codes. You may get valuable information. It's unclear at this point that your ECU is bad.
Dimming and brightening of the lights suggests that the alternator needs to be replaced.

Alternator has a voltage regulator built in. If the regulator goes bad it can send too much voltage, make the lights extra bright, and start burning stuff up or blowing fuses.

hmmm... well i should but i went to Autozone and O'rieleys to get it checked and showed that it was running at 13.8 Vlts and the battery was good as well... the thing is that... k lets say im driving... at night.. the lights are on and im driving about 40mph. I dont push the clutch but let go of gas pedal everything turns brighter but once i press on the gas... it gets dimmer again... same if i press on clutch it gets brighter for split second then back to dimm again... WTF!!! lol!! i hope it doesnt burn my ECU up... i have a OBD2 Harness with a Skunk2 OBD1 Jump harness to a OBD1 SI-R ECU... let me know what you think guys... also wat kinda alternator should i use??
