EM1 CTR Headlight City Light Question
I got a 99 Civic Si, Just purchased authentic Civic Type R headlights but I havent installed the city lights. I have the bulb, socket, and PWJDM wiring harness. I did alot of research and I know that I have to tap into the parking light wires and ground the black wire to the chassis. But I want them to turn on like a true JDM CTR, to have my City lights come on with NO parking lights when I turn my light switch to the parking lights. The only time I want my signal lamps to turn on is when I activate my turn signals. Would I take the parking light wire and cut it off from the paarking bulb socket, and wire it straight to the PW harness? Would this work? Im no wiring guru but I'm about to install it like this so I want to know if its gonna work. Thanks

Re: EM1 CTR Headlight City Light Question
?? Why don't you just wire it so that the city lights turn on with the ignition?
If you want to do it your way:
-cut the parking light power wire.
-take the side that came from the harness and splice it into your city light power wire. Ground the city lights to the chassis.
-take the bulb side of your parking lot power wire and T-splice into the headlight power.
Your city lights will turn on by themselves on the first switch position.
When you turn the switch to the headlight position, your parking lights will turn on.
Leave your turn signal power wires alone.

Re: EM1 CTR Headlight City Light Question
I just finished wiring them
Took the three wires from the parking/signal bulb socket. Cut the red/blk wire off from the socket. wired the city light positive wire to the red/blk parking light wire from the car.
took the ground from the city light wire and grounded it to the chassis
My city lights come on instead of amber corners when I turn my parking lights on. Headlights are the same way, just the headlights/city lights come on. No parking lights at all, only signal lights flash. similar to how they work in japan.

Re: EM1 CTR Headlight City Light Question
You use plug and play HID's? In headlights that cant focus them AND have no casper shield??!?!? AND the left side pattern is aimed higher since they're JDM....
You're a bad person.

lol they're H4 HID bulbs that were on my car when I bought it. The low beams are 6k HIDS and the high beams are a regular halogen bulb. I use the halogen bulb as my lows and HID's for high beams. Sorry my headlights hurt your feelings

Re: EM1 CTR Headlight City Light Question
I don't have feelings. I guess I never got the point of plug and play HID's in non-projector housings. Then again, I'm one of these crazy people that like to see the road.

Re: EM1 CTR Headlight City Light Question
HIDs without the proper projector housings are stupid. Period. Not only do they fail to properly illuminate the road, they also absolutely blind incoming traffic, causing a serious safety issue for both you, as well as everyone driving around you.
As for wiring your turn signals to the city lights, and disabling them in the OEM location...That's against federal laws and regulations, and an instant failure for yearly inspection in every state I've ever lived in. Good luck.
