Icon5 Em1 Charcol canister removal? What problems?

Hello I’m building my em1. While waiting for parts and tune date I’m doing a full tuck and shaved bay mainly because ac and power steering is already gone and I am ok with that. Please don’t tell me why don’t you go buy it and put it back in because I do not want to I am happy without it. I’m removing the charcoal canister and the line going back to the gas tank. My question is what will I have to worry about? I’m ok with the smell of gas and alittle extra tank pressure and could care less about my fuel mileage it’s not a daily. What I am concerned about is a check engine light. I’ve heard of people converting to obd1 but what all does that take. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thankyou

If you're ok with the smell of gas why ask? Confusing...

I would guess you will have a CEL if you just pull it, as there are sensors (atleast 1) monitoring the system. Idk any work arounds as im obd1 with a jdm ecu.

I had a friend do that and that **** is just stupid. Everytime he’d stop at a light the car would smell like fuel horribly. It almost made me sick tbh and I generally don’t mind the smell.

And since you’re obd1 a cel will be present

You will get evap related CELs. If you live in a state that requires emissions testing, you won't pass with a CEL, and you won't pass with an OBD1 conversion either.

Taking out your evap purge canister isn’t for treehuggers 😝 if you want to get rid of the gas smell run some hoses going under the car towards the back more so the smell wont be in the cabin
