Default Electrical problem w driver door

My g/f has a 94 civic ex and the drivers door has been giving us problem. The controls work fine when the door is closed, but when we open the door the power door lock doesn’t work. Also the speaker on the drivers door works intermittingly and the passenger side window does the same. I was wondering if theres a main switch or connector that controls these operations…

Check the door wire harness at the point where it exits the door and enters the car. You may find a damaged wire there.

Is that a common problem at a quick glance it looks fine…the car has over 200k so I know wear and tear could cause a lose connection or some kind of switch problem…

Based on the information you provided, I think that location is a logical place to start.

Ummm, that first one is not a problem.

The locks dont work when the door is open unless you're holding one of the door handles open. Its the honda anti-idiot feature that makes it harder to lock your keys in your car.

Ok ill check it out when I get home…I know that you have to hold the inter door handle in order to lock the door but my problem is when the door is open and I do that it wont lock the other door…it will only lock the other door when its not wide open…on the ex model when you lock drivers door the passenger locks as well...it just seems like it lose it conection
