Default electrical issue with tach

Hey I have a 5 inch monster autometer tach mounted on the dash of my 92 Civic. Sometimes I have electrical interference which will throw the tach off about 500 RPMs, How can I fix this problem? It happens often.

that sounds like a faulty tach to me...is the tch in the dash doing the same thing? where did you tap into the tach from the vehicle?

The car didn't come with a tach. It is located to the right of the AC controls and the wires come out by the stock fuel regulator, It than is routed to the wiring harness and wired before it goes into the car on the left side. I have been told that it maybe because of the long length of wire that was used. I probably should have wired it closer to the dizzy.

Try running sheilded wire directly to the ignitor. Just make sure you properly ground the sheild. Or spend the money for a MSD unit. I have a few

i agree with the shielding plan..if possible see ig you can get a twisted pair,shielded... twisted pair simple means that two wires are twisted around each other....good interference in the magnetic fields
