I have an electric problem on my 97 Hatch. I replaced the battery a couple of weeks ago and everything was fine. Last week, the car suddenly stopped and i had no electricity in my car (the anti-theft system wasn't even working). I replaced my ground cable and i had electricity. The guy sold me a 8g( i think it's a 4g that i needed) and the cable was quite long but i installed it anyway.

Now, i had a joyride a couple of hours ago and suddenly the cluster stopped working, every ****i%? lights dimmed in the car and the car stopped working. I went back a couple of hours later, the car runned perfectly for a couple of minutes and then the same problems reappeared.

What can cause this? alternator? where should i look?

Your alternator is possibly shot, but first check whether 7.5A fuse 15 under the dash is blown. If the fuse is fine, take the car to an auto parts store to have the charging system checked out.

sounds like a bad connection. start at that ground wire since it is the only thing that has changed.

probably a good idea to test your battery and alternator while you are at it.
