Every month or so I look for a good deal on AutoTrader, just for the hell of it, and came across this...
Figured I would post it up for the community to see

If you've ever raced electric RC cars, you'd know why. Max torque at zero rpm with no gears to select. You do loose top speed because you don't have a gearbox, but the low end torque is crazy. Your top speed is selected by whatever final-drive you run. The more you lower the top-speed with gearing, the more punch you have off the line or out of the corners. Power delivery is very different from gas power so it's hard to compare.
Only problem is that performance very much depends on the condition and state of charge of the batteries. Batteries are very finicky and perform very differently at different temperatures.
I think having an electric car just for commuting to and from work would be awesome. Provided the batteries really did last for many years.

There isn't much to do to an electric car. With a combustion engine you have all kinds of little things to play around with. It's not as fun to think "oh yeah, got me a bigger electric motor and some lighter batteries." When you could be talking about a 351 Windsor.
