Electric exhaust opener?
I just wanted to know if anyone knew what that electric exhaust opener is. It's like a piece that sets in your exhaust system, you cut the pipe and stick it in between and have a button to switch from straight pipe or dupe pipe (for turbo or what not) to stock exhaust sytem. I know a some V8s run it and stuff, but I think it would be very convient for a daily driven car with high boost. I plan on running a duel stage manual boost controller, and one of these. Be able to flip a switch and have it at a preset boost level (say 20psi) and the nopen it up to the downpipe. Then when im done, be able to put it back down to 8psi or whatever, and route it back through the stock exhaust system and muffler. Let me know if you know the name of this, Thanks,
Matt

Re: Electric exhaust opener? (hatchback19)
im not sure what the name is but i know what ur talking about. i was thinking about doing that in my car so i could run a straight pipe out the side at the track then flip it to the muffler on the street...

Yea thats waht I want to do, my daily driver goes 70 miles every day to and from school and I rather just run low boost and stock exhaust system, keep her quiet until I have to. The stock exhaust system doesn't attract nearly as much attention as a straight 3" pipes

I saw them on "Trucks!" or one of those car shows on TNN on Saturday morning. They were stainless and looked real nice. Downside is that they said they were like $400.

i'm look at one too...except a manual one. its setup like a choke, you just pull it or push it to change which you want </TD></TR></TABLE>
haha, I used to have one of those about 6 years ago, it was like 50 bucks. It would leak a little, sounded like just a small exhaust leak, and then I'd pull the choke line to run open header, and of course it was crazy loud. The line was kinked on purpose so it would stay open until the race was over. It works

Re: (rodrez)
ask cheesefrog about this. He has it on his turbo ls hatch. I think he was running 4psi with it closed on a stock hatch exhaust and 20psi open downpipe
