ELD High voltage output
I have a 99' em1... My check engine light had went on about a month ago and after further investigation, as well as diagnostic aid's... I seemed to have located the problem but am unaware on how to fix it.
I have 3 trouble codes and my symptoms are
- constantly blowing fuse 15 under dash
- when fuse blows, i lose my spedometer reading
- when fuse blows, i lose the signal to tell the alternator to charge
- when fuse blows, i lose both Ho2 sensor readings
I used a diagnostic tool to read the trouble codes and possbile fixes... it said there could be a short in the wiring underneath the intake manifold. It also said that a possible ground connector could be faulty.
If you have any ideas on what i should look at, or if you know how to fix this... let me know please.

Ground is your problem. Trust me. I had this happen to me after changing the thermostat on my car, somehow I l left the groud bolt loose, I drove it down the street and it cut out on me and never started again. I discovered that the insufficient ground caused the ELD in the under hood fuse box to crap out. The ELD is built in to the box, I went to the local junk yard and bought one for 10 bucks, problem solved. Check all your grounds before starting the car if you do replace the fuse box. Good luck!!!!!

Re: ELD High voltage output (d16y8hatch)
I just finished up my work on it today, and i checked all the grounds that were in the area underneath the intake manifold. they seemed all right but i replaced one ground wire by putting on a new connector and tighting it down. one of my trouble codes was p01298, which was ELD voltage high - probable cause... short in a circuit or bad ground connection. The spedometer, alternator and O2 sensors work for about 5 minutes with a new # 15 fuse ( 7.5 volt mini fuse ) but after either 5 minutes or when i hit vtec... the fuse will blow and all 3 of those things will stop working.
Thats whats happening in full extent... by replacing the ELD unit or the fuse box... will this correct the problem? or is there a certain wire, or ground that could be the culprit specifically?... please let me know.
Thank you!

Re: ELD High voltage output (HCivicSi23)
I had a code for the eld once..Check engine light was on, tach didnt work, blew fuse 15(i think thats the #)..the culprit was my o2 sensor wires were a little long and one melted on the header gounding it out. After i fixed that i just replace the fuse and reset the ecu and had to problems since.... But before i figured that out i was like WTF..only way to replace the eld is by replacing the whole fuse box.
