<< EK9-owners: Germany needs your help!
Hi,
my name is alex, I'm writing from germany.
I' looking around the net for owners of authentic EK9 Civics .
My problem is the following:
I have a european '99 Civic Hatch that has been seriously tuned by me within the last 5 years.
As one of the last steps I swapped a B18C6, the european Integra Type-R DOHC VTEC engine into my car.
Everything works perfect. But there is another Problem:
In Germany we have a kind of technical organization watching and controlling all modifications that have been done to a car that is, however, driving on public streets.
Therefore I have to get them a kind of document in order to proof the fact that there exists a Civic Hatch with similar horsepower and similar engine.
The difference concerning ccm will be tolerated. The engineer only has to see that the HONDA civic EK9 really exists.
A original EK9-brochure has been given to him but that ain't enough to satisfy the german laws.
So my question is:
Are YOU able to send me a foto-copy of your EK9-permission document, I mean the official sheet of paper that identifies exactly your car as yours.
It only has to include an ID like the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) and some specifications, especially Horsepower (which is probably the most important data for me better to say for the engineer.
Of course you can leave out any personal information.
That would help me alot to get my Civic streetlegal.
It's the first B18-Swap in a EK-Civic all over our country so there isn't any possibility to take a comparison to another EK Civic with a similar engine.
I would highly appreciate your help!!
The Honda-Community will be my last opportunity to get my car STREETLEGAL.
Thank you very much for listening!
best regards
Alex H. (L-X)

Re: << EK9-owners: Germany needs your help! (civiccpedx)
where's the problem?
Wiping out any personal Information (name, adress, ...) BEFORE sending the copy to me, there won't be a data-security-problem.
PDF is an option!

That made no sense, technically we have M3's and **** too, so why are we driving 'lil hondas'?
But to the thread poster, I know a lot of people arent gonna be too willing to send that kind of information over the internet. Too many scammers on HT, not saying you are in any way, but you gotta understand people are less trusting nowadays. But I wish you the best of luck in getting your business sorted out.

Thats not exactly true, when I was there about a year and a half ago, I did two swaps, one american and one german. Sorry I cant help you, I just dont have what your looking for. Talk to the Brits, wasnt the CTR sold there?
You guys also have the new CTR, and one of your 92-95? civics have a b series engine in it. Wont those be sufficient? Better yet have the guy call me or give me his number and I'll tell them its fine. I'll say I work for Honda.

Re: << EK9-owners: Germany needs your help! (walker111)
That IS the truth.
We have alot of Eg Civics with the teg-engine.
But however there aren't any EK Hatches.
Those you mentioned were probably Cars of US G.I.'s
There isn't any german institution like our "TÜV" that is controlling any cars build up by Members of the U.S. Army.
They can do, whatever they want. Even a TURBO would be no problem.
You're safe because of your "HK"-Numberplates!
Ask Alan aka Sleeper from Kutsuju, he can tell you that I'm not here to fool you!

Re: (Tokyo_X-treme_Racer)
Why scam? I don`t know the guy but still, in Germany is very strick law on tunning cars. Every little thing you replace on car and it`s not O.E.M. must have TÜV.
L-X why don`t you go to local Honda dealership and they should/must give you info on EK9.

Re: (kleanlscivic)
I helped a "german" friend of mine put a 99 gsr motor in a 96 ek. I dont know if it was legit but he drove it on the street all the time. I agree the TUV is a PITA, but there are ways around it. I agree with the dealership idea. Good Luck, I'll do some research for you.

Re: (kleanlscivic)
not even HONDA EUROPE North Headquarter in Offenbach/Germany has any idea.
They don't even know the japanese EK9s...
And I spoke to the only guy, who has the authority to give me such a statement.
The leader of HONDAs technical customer service.

Re: (L-X)
So I'll call him and tell him I'm from Honda America. I'll tell him everything there is to know about an EK9. Just give me your information and a number to call, I'll get it done for you.

Alex is everything but a scammer
@Alex: My EG registration with the B18 hasn't helped you?
I know they are not close to you but you could still go to How Wheels (http://www.hot--wheels.de/), $500 and the engine is street legal.

Re: (walker111)
Thanks for your suggestion.
But he'll need some official paper in his hands.
@André: Has helped alot but your car is alot older with another emission-level and on the other hand there aren't any problems with the bodywork.
The '99 Hatch has to fullfil alot of new aspects.
However, I need a original EK9-permission or a official HONDA-Explaination on HONDA-labeled sheet of paper with a HONDA-stamp.
