EK9 folding mirrors - issues seeing?
Hi all,
I got a piar of EK9 folding mirrors from ebay, got them color matched vsm, slapped em on my coupe, the harness plugged right in and everything was good until I couldn't really see out of the driverside mirror. the motor stops going out to the left after awhile and begins to kickback.... I see most of the side of my car and not the most important part and that's on the side of me.
I wanted to swap out my usdm rearview with the jap one, but once I got into the housing everything is different. ha!
I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue with seeing out of the driver side.
obviously these are made for right hands so I'm assuming this is the reason. I'm also 6 foot 4 so I sit back all the way...
just wanna see if anyone else has input.
my car: 2000 EJ8 VSM

Re: EK9 folding mirrors - issues seeing? (greenwallseries)
i have a eg and i had the same problem.. fixed it tho when i swaped the glass.. and all is well in the usdm jdm world. ( i used a blow dryer heated the glass,, theres a black glue behind it that softens up with a bit of heat and u ever so gently pull it apart.)

This is a common problem.
JDM cars are RHD. US cars are LHD. Try sitting in a stock US car's passenger seat and arrange the passenger mirror so you can see out of it as you would need to if you were driving from that seat.
The easiest answer is that you buy European mirrors in the first place, but it's too late now. Those mirrors would be the same shape, can be power or manual and most (besides UK and Irish) are LHD.
US Civic mirror glass doesn't fit the JDM mirrors. I've heard ideas abotu putting Integra glass in them, but I think the glass might be longer or something.

Usdm 96-00 and jdm mirrors are the same size, i know cause i swaped my ctr mirrors for usdm glass. I wish i bought replicas cause i would of saved tons of money and would be able to see out my mirror.

I've always heard that every time someone tries to make them fit (US glass in JDM mirrors), it doesn't work.

Re: (NOFX)
Ok guys I have done this mod and did it right by buying the USDM version of mirrors that don't power fold and another set if integra mirrors that I used the mirors off of. The thing to do is to use the base of the USDM replica mirrors and use the motor part of the JDM ones and mate them together. So now you have the USDM base with the JDM motor part together. Then you need to take the complete Integra mirror with back plate and insert it into the JDM motor part and then you should have no problems seeing out of your Frankinstien mirrors. Cost approx 300 buxs to do so good luck.

European mirrors would be right with less work (none) and potentially cheaper. Not everyone needs power folding either (it seems a lot of people think they only come in power).

True, but some of us had to do it the hard way cause of lack of resources EDM mirrors are kinda hard to come by I know. But it be nice to know if any sources you might want to share. For those guy trying to get help with the mirror angles this might help in some way.
