ek9 brake swap

Hey guys!

I have a 96 civic hatch and i soon will be doing a rear disc brake swap on it. I'm getting the brakes from a 95 integra in a scrap yard. Basicly what im trying to say is what should I be looking for when I get it and putting it together. This will be my first mod in the car so I'm prity hype about it.

Re: ek9 brake swap

Better check for e-brake cable fitment ... check the FAQs/DIYs for what's required.

you may need new bushings if u remove it completely piece by piece the more u keep the whole section whole the better off u will be not replacing old bushings and be sure to grab the proportioning valve from the car... I would definitely not put these swaps on my easy list as these cars are rusting more n more

Your post hurts to read.

Why does he need a prop valve?

I did a lot of reading and all that have done brake swaps don't need to change the prop valve on hatchbacks, and yes the ebrake cable is needed as well.

Re: ek9 brake swap

Integra likely has ABS anyway, so no prop valve.

Re: ek9 brake swap

But does the 95 integra even have ABS? And do I still need a prop valve (40/40 prop valve)? Also my car does not have ABS

The best answer I'll give you is research brake swaps and prop valves for yourself and come to your own conclusion.

I chose not to swap prop valves when I did my rear disc conversion. I've got a 92 Civic VX and left the "3030" valve in. The 92-95 Civic Si that comes standard with rear disc has a "3040" prop valve and the Integra comes with the "4040" prop valve. After much reading I decided not to swap. I can tell you that I have taken my car from +60 mph applied brake pressure to where the tires begin to screech (locking up the brakes, as I have no ABS either) and I had ZERO adverse braking conditions.

So read and understand the thoughts on whether a prop valve swap is necessary.

Threads like this Prop Valve Theory. There are even better ones out there, So read, read, read!

Doesn't matter. You're only after the rear trailing arms with the disc spindles. The ABS lines on an Integra run along the rear lower control arms. The only part of the ABS system that you would transfer, inadvertently, would be the ABS ring on the wheel bearing/hub. No biggie since you don't have the sensor to read the ring anyway.
