It will depend on your skill level and how it's done. It's not going to fit like OEM since it's technically not designed for your car. You may run into fitment issues.

hood/fenders/headlights WILL bolt on just like factory.

The bumper gets a little trickier. The 99-00 bumper mount is thinner then the 96-98, and the new bumper may not clip on right. (the tab on the coresupport is thinner as well)

You can, try it anyways, swap the coresupport, or try to swap the tabs. I "think" they are just spot welded on, but, I am not positve. You would have to check.

Or, you could weld more material on, and redrill the hole. Just a thought.

And if it's not done right, you get that ugly space between your hood and bumper.

I heard the core support is a PITA to change. It is welded on, yes.

As for the 96-98 when doing the conversion to the 99-00 front end, directly on the front of the core support there is a small area on the left and right sides that has to be cut off or bent, which ever you prefer. So with you doing the opposite as the others said you may have to play with it a little but it's not that hard to do. Plus when swapping everything it gives you the perfect time to hide some wires if your up to it. Good luck and keep us posted.

i don't see anything about an ek4(sir ) or a ek9(civic type R) you should rename your thread to 96-98 front end on a 99-00 civic they never sold an actual ek in north america

But you understood the idea, as did everyone else who commented, so what does it matter?

It can be a pain, it's not that hard, but if you screw it up noithing on the front end will line up correctly.

Drilling the spot welds sucks though.
