Default EK Window Issue... Yes, I Searched.

I'm having a real problem with the passenger window rattling in my 99 DX. It's obviously not power windows and the window's still on track. I took everything apart and retightened everything down to try to fix the problem originally, but the rattle is still there. The window still cranks normally, but I swear it seems too thin for the space or something. It seems to seel ok cuz it never really leaks, but damn that rattling is getting annoying. I have to take a long road-trip soon so can anyone help me out with some info on how to get rid of this rattle once and for all. Thanks.

you HAVE to locate the source of the problem... the window area is big, and sounds resonate so it could sound like the window, but it might be somewhere totally diff't

does it stop when you press teh window in or out with your hand??

I'm think it's the window itself and how it's fitting. The rattle seems to stop when you apply pressure to the glass. I first thought it might be where the window bolted to the regulator, but I checked all those bolts and they seem to be as tight as it gets. Any thoughts?

Bump for you, I have the same thing going on. Was never there before, but I switched over to power windows, haven't rolled them down ever and get that rattling you're talking about. Yes, it is annoying and I could certainly do without it. I have checked it a little, but all I do is hit the door. In my head, I think I really think that hitting it resolves the problem, but it doesn't so that's really as far as I have checked the rattle. But everything like yours is tightened down. I know it is metal on metal, I may place a thin sheet of something in there to separate the regulator from the door to see if that is it.

ya, it's almost as if the channels are too thin for the window.

Are you sure its the window and not the door panel itself? My door panlels rattle on my 99 hatch.

Not certain about him, but I for sure know it is not my door panels, I removed them when I was testing for sounds and I could still hear it when I went out for a drive.

I don't think it's the door panel because it seems to stop when I press against the window. Thanks for the input, though. I'll have to take the door panel off and see if there's some way I can pad it and see if that makes a difference.

I have the rattling on my 99 DX hatch too, it's on the driver side for me.. like "invalid" says, just hit, that's what I do for now. I haven't had time to open it up and check but if you figure it out, please let me know.

I've got the same issue, only when the window is rolled down say 1/2 way or something. Doesn't do it as much when the window is rolled up, or even all the way down, but somewhere in between. I haven't looked into it much, but always thought it might be the regulator. Let us know what you find out.
