ek wet floor under driver seat
anyone had that problem? I tried searching and came up with nothing
everything around it is fairly dry, I can't get where the water would be coming from
it's a 97 hb
TIA

Re: ek wet floor under driver seat (Jeterkm02)
yes, but here's the thing, the winter mat at the front is wet (understandable) then if I go back towards under my seat, there's an inch or two of dry before I get more water that is under my seat

Re: ek wet floor under driver seat (Leb_CRX)
k because I am having trouble understanding what I wrote I made a picture...
http://www.adaccache.com/uploads/wetunderseat.jpg
in the picture, the red is the water from my shoes...now it does spread and wet other areas, but then there's a big gap of dry between it and the blue...which is hte unknown water
and even in the summer I felt the wet water too

I would suggest driving it arround when its wet and then taking out your drivers seat and pull up the carper to make sure that the water isnt just draining from your feet back to where you say its wet. It just doesnt make sense.

Re: ek wet floor under driver seat (Leb_CRX)
i have an ej1, but im having the same problem...and i found out it was two leaks and not from my wet shoes...
i had one leak from the firewall near the hood release, and another leak from somewhere above the driver side door and rear quarter window...
it was dry everywhere except for under my seat...so im guessing the water was flowing towards underneath my seat
maybe your best bet if the problem isnt your shoes, is to remove your seat and pull up the driver side of the carpet, then sit inside and have someone spray the garden hose over your car...not sure if this will help you or not

i dunno.. if theres an excessive amount of water coming off the melted snow off your shoes, the 2 inches of dry rug could be caused by the bar that runs across the floor (where the seat bolts into).

no offense, but this topic has been covered here many times already. these hatches have sealant problems...the EG's (even though yours is an EK) had a service bulletin post to teh dealers explaining the problem.
this is even in the FAQ thread that is stickied at the top of this forum!

Re: (dropd4door)
If you look at my archived topics, I had this very same problem and I must admit. It was ANNOYING! I even went as far as sitting in the car while it was raining for an HOUR and found NOTHING>
I have 6 other buddys which 5 of them have this similar problem. However, The hatch I have ..I have only had for about 2 months?
I contacted the old owner rudely, and told him "Thanks, for telling me this car floods when left in the rain".
Well, I apologized..when he desperately explained that the NEVER leaked when he owned it.
Anyhow, to the conclusion..that most EK's have this problems cause of the SHITTY foam absorbing taillight Gaskets. Which the crevices of the tallights on EK's are very highly exposed to rain. Being the crevices on the taillights facing up.
Anyhow, come to find out the conclusion as to WHY the water gets to the front floorboards. Well, the first runs down in the spare tire area. then after getting somewhat filled up and after you driving and moving the water around. The water then flow into the bottom of the back seats...making its way to through the crevices in the floorboard...which run from the backseats all the way up to the front floorboads. Hence the flooding in the front floorboards.
Rest assured, its confusing..but It all made sense when someone told me it was the gaskets. Cause I had JUST changed the taillights to 99 Civic tails..which made come to the conclusion and truth from the old owner, really meaning it didnt flood
Anyhow, I bought some new taillight gaskets from Honda ( 5.00) and the problem is now GONE
Hope this helps your frustrations... cause there is nothing worse then stinky carpet

Yeah, that's what I thought to, lmao.
Anyway, check the bottom of your undercarriage. Make sure you don't have any punctured holes or what not.

Smartass! There are dozens of reasons the carpet could be wet. Just because it was stickied doesn't mean that is the answer!!!
Do you have a swap? I had a friend whos heater core leaked and made both sides of the car wet, all because we tried a little too hard to get the hoses off. Soak up some of the moisture and see if it smells like coolant.

Re: (SilverEkHatch)
Hey guys thanks for the replies I appreciate it
actually as a matter of fact I did have the taillight leak and thanks to searching I did fix it with some silicon around them, but that was about 7+ month back...now this problem has been happening since I've bought the car, and it's one of those things that is REALLY starting to **** me off...mainly because I know it's there
but now that I see that there are a few other ek owners with the same problem I don't feel so bad...as long as it doesn't get to the point where it rusts it out and creates a hole I guess it should be ok...
who knows I might feel courageous during the summer and rip off the carpet and drive through a carwash to see if I can detect anything

Re: (Collateral)
One thing I dont get Collateral is how we'll say even that (the taillights) is the problem...you wouldn't notice it? I mean if it's gotta fill up the whole spare tire hole, thats a whole lot of water
I had maybe 2L in there back when I had that problem and it was splashing bad enough for me to hear it and notice it
