EK vs. EG

advantages and disadvantages.

if i choose to go Honda , it's either one...

i know that the eg is lighter etc., but what does the EK have on it (i like the look of the EK....is the interior bigger?)

do they pretty much share all parts etc?

and with the weight, what's the difference, EG cx vs. EK cx..

thanks

<chant>EG, EG, EG</chant>

You will pay less for an eg, insurance will be cheaper, which will leave you more $$ to modify. http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emthup.gif

I sold my ek and just bought an eg. The eks are nice since they are newer but i bought my eg for $7500 less than I paid for my ek.

Re: EK vs. EG (comptechgsr)

EK's are a little heavier (about 70-80lbs on average between a '95 DX and a '96 DX). But that's offset by the better suspension geometry and longer wheelbase. You won't need a camber kit on an EK when you lower it -- unless you showcar slam it that is. On EG's, you practically need a camber kit if you put more than 2 people in your car. http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emsmile.gif

Huh? Better suspension geometry? Sijnce when is more camber in the rear (EK)considered better suspension geometry?

EG has the best camber curves stock (in terms of racing), but both need to be corrected depending upon what you do.

Also, longer wheelbase is worse for most forms of racing, especially autox.

not trying to start a war but longer wheelbase is worse for most racing? how is that possible? i know its no good for auto-x since it doesnt pick up lot of speed, but a longer wheelbase is good for high speed stability.

I have an EK because I like the looks, and I wanted a newer car. I do plan on buying an EG to play around with.
I don't know, its all a preference thing.

EH all the way. Almost every single part from an Integra will interchange. And since it is an older car Insurance will be cheaper and it should be cheaper to buy one.

EG in my opinion - OBD1, lighter, suspension compatibility, cheaper, etc.

I like everything about an EG EXCEPT the looks. EKs are sooo much sexier.

Re: EK vs. EG (Extreme_Hybrid_Hatch)

EG!!!!!!

I had a DB8 (teg sedan) and sold it because of its heavy weight and high insurance, oh yeah also the high loan payments. Bought an EG for $2000 and spent money and time modding it, havent ever been as happy as I am now. Low weight, low cost and very easy to source low-cost repair parts and a huge choice of new performance/race parts. My roommate has a '00 EK hatch and its sick in every way except no swap yet. I have driven his EK almost to the limits and I still think it is a bit of a tubby car but very nice indeed. The interior quality is the best yet in an "econo car" and the outside is wicked clean with all oem painted moldings (Canadian spec), the car is just beautiful. BUT, the reason I would not choose his EK or any other is really because of the cost of acquiring and insuring an EK.

I like the EG's more then the EK's... I dont really like the way the EK's slant so much in the back, it gives them a wierd look. I'm not too crazy about the front ends either. I love everything about the EG's

Re: EK vs. EG (comptechgsr)

It is a win, win situation my friend!

I love the EK coupe, and if you like the looks, want a newer car, then go for that. If you happen to be a little tight budgeted though, this could delay your modifying plans. Someone mentioned everything from an Integra fitting the EG, but the EK is essentially the same way in most cases.

I just got an EG hatch, and I like these little cars alot too. They are cheaper, and it seems like they are the most versatile, virtually everything and anything fits it.

I think overall, the EK done up right, can look very classy. The EG looks just "sporty". Im not sure if this makes sense to anyone....

Re: EK vs. EG (comptechgsr)

I bought an EK because I wanted a newer car and I do a lot of driving. I wanted a 94 Si, but they're hard to come by here and they usually have rust behind the rear fender here in Wisconsin. However, if my EK got stolen/totaled/, I'd be on the hunt for an EG. I had a 2000 hatch but had to sell it (plus it didn't have the performance I was lookin' for stock) I have a 98 EX now.

I like 'em both, though.
