EK SOHC Vtec Transmission help
I just bought a honda civic ek coupe SOHC Vtec... The car seems to not ride nice on 1st gear. I dont know if im not suppost to go past 3 grand in first. Or is there something wrong maybe you can help me out. I really dont want to make the car fast. not that i really could with this motor neways. but i want it to just run good and healthy. and im currently running with a p2p if that matters?

I'm still not sure exactly what the problem is supposed to be. "The car seems to not ride nice on 1st gear." could you clarify that statement?

when i take off from 1st gear it feels like its strugling. compared to 2nd, 3rd, 4rth, and 5th seem normal. i dnt know if its just that the car seems to be putting out alot more then the speed shows in 1st. my cousin told me that the car is just slow. being its my first stick car i dnt know much. but when the car is for instance in 1st gaer and i take my foot off the gas the car makes this weird annoting sound like a rubbing grinding sound??? does that help?

First gear is geared pretty low, its not going to pull like second. The noise though, you might want to look into, its kind of hard to diagnose over the internet, but it sounds like it might be an internal transmission bearing.

It involves pulling the the transmission and then pulling it apart. Replacing whatever bearings are bad (theres 5 of them) and then reinstalling the transmission.

Theres 2 bearings on the mainshaft (1 at each end, the one at bell housing end usually goes bad, but i've seen the one at the other end go bad before as well, the plastic cage in the bearing breaks and then the ***** just hammer around between the inner and outer race. The other 3 are on the countershaft, theres one roller bearing on one end and a roller bearing and ball bearing on the other end.
