Default ek with single cam

quick question, will a single cam vtec in an ek PULL? or is this not a good motor to start with?

it wouldn't be fast in stock form but neither is a b16 in stock form..in a ek hatch..

has potential like every other motor, depends on what you do to it. stock single v in an ek, some people will say it pulls, some people will say it doesnt. its the preference on what cars youve been in and what cars you havent been in=]/

single cams are fun to have and toy with. If you do some of the basic bolts and run a p28 w/ a chip, you'll have some fun. My buddy use to have one and really enjoy'd it.

If your goal is a fun daily driver then youll be fine with a d series motor. If your goal is 300whp car then this much easier to attain with a different setup although it can be attained with a d series motor.

The only d series motors worth messing with are the y8, z6, and jdm d15b... although the z6 isnt considered sohc.

how is the z6 not considered sohc?, just wondering=].
It is a single overhead cam.

I think he means the ZC, which is still considered an SOHC despite being a DOHC.

oooh, the dohc zc is a dohc=]. just a d series engine still. d series doesnt mean single cam=]/

i have a EK with a y8 and i must say its pretty fun is it fast? no is it quick? i guess but its fun...then again my suspension on my car is done out so maybe thats half of it

just make sure you have a z6/y8 tranny with it.

thanks for all the input. were gonna go with a single cam then. its mostly for 1/8 mile drags, mountian turns and trying to keep the mpg too... thanks again
