Ek Sidemarker worked, but not anymore
I installed my sidemarkers tonight on my EK coupe. I did the right side first, cutting the hole, which was scary to say the least, installing the marker, and doing the wiring. I hooked up the black ground wires together and then the RED wire from the sidemarker to the Green/Yellow wire to the blinker light. I tested it and it worked great. Sidemarker blinked when I put my turn signal on.
Did the same for the left side and hooked up all the wires using butt connectors, shrink tubing, and electrical tape. I put on my left blinker and that worked fine. Sidemarker blinks. Turned my right blinker on and it blinks twice as fast and the sidemarker light doesn't light.
When I put on my hazards, the right front blinker bulb lights, but not as bright, and the Sidemarker still doesn't come on. Checked all the bulbs, front and rear, and the filaments inside are all intact.
Do I need a new relay? What else should I check?

ahh i would check your bulbs... .front/rear and sidemarker... one of the filaments in one of them soudns like it could be burnt out... thats usually the case with hyper blinking turn signals

Well I checked the bulbs, but it cant hurt to check again. I took a flashlight and looked at the front one real good b/c it's a PITA to take the bumber off just check a bulb. I checked the rear and sidemarker by pulling out the sockets and looking at the bulb. If that's not it, then what else could it be?

Just did a quick check of my front blinker bulbs. I first turned on my hazards lights and looked at the working side. Each front blinker bulb has two filaments. With the hazards on, both filaments light up. On the trouble side, only one filament does. Im gonna go out on a limb here and say that I need a new bulb. I really sick of taking that damn bumper off. SOB anyway, what's to keep the bulb from burning out again? I know its not the wiring cuz wiring connections are not that hard to do the right way. Maybe just a bad bulb?

Ya I guess so. I wish I could get it done right now but its 1 am dammit. I hate waiting til morning to fix broken stuff on my car. If I remember correctly, most aftermarket headlights use the OEM blinker bulb socket, right?

I'll give you a hint, whenever you have blinking problems or messed up lighting theres always a short somewhere. In your case you found it at the butt connectors.

Re: Ek Sidemarker worked, but not anymore (Mr_Goodbar)
when i put on my sidemarkers on my car i didnt use any connecters i just put wire to wire and they are still working to this day(about a year now) there are two places to connect wires from the side markers, get wires and connect them to the sidemarker, then run the wires long enough to reach your headlights, then you have to cut your stock headlight wires and check and see which one goes to the blinker and which one goes to your headlights(dont really know the colors of the wires but thats what i did.i know this didint probably help that much cause i cant explain **** that well but if you already fixed the problem then just dont bother with my messed up instuctions.

The green one is the blinker light. It only comes on when the blinker is on, just like all cars that have the Sidemarkers factory installed. I did get it fixed and Im waiting for my Grillecraft Upper grill kit to come then i can get some paint to cover there I cut.
