Re: EK COUPE SKUNK SHORT SHIFTER
If you're not afraid to spend that money, then sure man go ahead dude, but I wouldn't spend so much on that. Aftermarket shifters are overrated if you're sticking to stock linkage/transmission/engine. Civic's are budget tuner vehicles, in some of the parts it's okay to be cheap. Think smarter, not harder. A shifter, stock or aftermarket is just a shifter, the shift **** and bushings are where the most feel is/are found.
If you want to only spend less than $20 at most, then here's what you can do:
Get a 94-01 Integra stock (dual-bend) shifter, I bought mine for $15 here on Honda-Tech, if you can find a 00-01 Integra Type R stock shifter (polished) then shoot it looks nicer.
Here they are compared:
"this is with the TWM dual bend compared with the stock DC dual bend and DA/EG/EK" - db1st
You will have to molest it though, once you cut it, it's not going back into an integra or B-series linkage.
Here they are compared (stock Civic 96-00 D-series shifter and 94-01 Integra B-series)
This much will need to be cut:
You could also spend another $10-$20 on a shifter bushing kit since you're going to be replacing the shifter anyways, new bushings would be nice to have over 10+ year bushings
So, you'll want to spend $15-$30 on an integra dual-bend shifter, cut it down to size in comparison with the stock 96-00 shifter. and if you'd like, install the bushing kit with it ($10-$20). However, a big difference would be found in a shift ****. Luckily, I already had a weighted shift **** (530 gram PWJDM Shift **** $50, came free with my car). If you want a shorter shifter height, then try getting it shortened and re-threaded, but that is going a bit too far.
