Default EK Coilover Installation Question, Help?

Has anyone ever installed coilover springs themselves? If so would it be safe to remove the oem spring from the shock without having it decompressed? Thanks!

ive never decompressed anything =\

ive had my front coil overs on for a long time and last night finally got off my lazy *** and did the rears. Its pretty simple really. You'll need a 9/16 wrench/socket and an Allen wrench. with these simple hand tools it took me around 10 min each spring - i'd say its pretty safe, but when u take off the top middle screw, you will have to hold it in place with the allen wrench to keep the rest of it from spinning, and then screw the nut off with your 9/16 wrench. be careful, cause it shoots the bolt / that washer out when u get the bolt off ;D

Did you remove the whole damper/shock to put in the spring? 3 bolts right? 2 on the top, and 1 on the bottom?

u would be much better off compressing them. I use some ratcheting straps and they have worked perfect every time. very inexpensive as well.

U really dont want you hand or wrist in the way of the spring when it launches off. I have removed it before without compressing it and really theres no reason to not do it rite.
