EK Civic EX/Si owners: Does the stock CD deck play CD-R's??
EK EX owners or 99-00 Si owners: Does the stock CD deck play CD-R's??
My cousin is giving his stock honda civic EX CD-player deck to me for free, but does it play burned CD music from a CD-R???
hmm I remembered sitting in my friend's civic Sicar with this stock cd deck and i think he played all his music from CD-R's...
It looks exactly the same as the below pics (Illuminates white)

it depends on the quality of the CD-R most name brand CD-Rs will play but if you get those blank cd's were the top and bottom are both relflective they are more likely not to play.

this question is Off Topic, but how do you set the time on the stock Si headunit?

Not sure how different the SI one is, but for the 96-98 headunit there is a tiny button that reads clock under it. By pushing it in then hitting the up/down arrows of the AM/FM radio selectors it enables toggling between the time.

will that 99-00 stock cd unit be plug and play in my 97dx? will anything not work if i remove my stock radio? i read that if i do remove the stock radio only unit, my dome light will quit working. keyless entry too will quit, but i dont have that.

no it will not plug into your 97. you need a harness adapter, or you can cut your radio plug off and splice in a 99-01 plug.

and quality cd's? all cd's are cheap (did you know it takes more $ to make a record than a cd? ), they are just packaged nicely to look good and appeal so you pay more.
have a nice day!

Are you for certain on this, as you have attempted it before? There shouldn't be a difference between the two, the mounting shape is just different to my understanding because the 99-00 unit are differently shaped due to newer a/c controls and center console.

you have to get a wiring harness for the 99 cd player that hooks right up and also you have to get a adapter harness for the 98 and splice. sucks, what a year a difference makes. i did the same thing as well, 98 honda ex running a 99 cd player. the cd player will fit flush, just have the bracket to hold up the rear end.

you hold FM and CD, the two should be right next to each other, untill your time display starts blinking, then use the numbers, ( i think its like 1 and/or 2 and/or 3)
to move the hour/min. hold the FM and CD together again, and it stops blinking and begins working.
