ek b18 R ecu question
planing a b18 type r swap in spring for my ek but want to keep it as simple as possible, im looking to keep it obd2 b, so i'd like to know if the 98+ spec r PCT or P73 ecu is available as obd2 b w/o immobilizer.

Re: ek b18 R ecu question
im pretty sure they will all have the immobilizer unless its a jdm ecu. so i think ! no quote. but all obd2b ecu's i found for my gsr had them in it. just take you're ecu and have them remove the immobilizer. hard to find ppl who can tho. i found a guy by me who does them for 50 bucks but my cel was always on saying complete ecu failure bc of him removing that and i could never check my cels unless i used a obd2a ecu

Re: ek b18 R ecu question
If im understanding correctly, jdm ecu's are not equiped with the immobiliser system? and it is possible to disable it in a immobiliser equiped ecu though it makes checking cells impossible?

Re: ek b18 R ecu question
ok i looked up the apex-i rev speed meter, and its an impressive device. i see the speed limiter cut in the features but they don't talk about it. the installation have only 4 wires, 12v switched, ground, rpm signal and speed pulse signal.

Re: ek b18 R ecu question
just chip the ecu. or get the immoblizer off. and then chip it to cnacel it off
I would think any good ECU/Chipping/Tuner can do this. Try Phearable, or Xenocron

All US OBD2b P75s and P72s need the immobilizer removed.
You can do it yourself; it's as simple as desoldering and removing the chip, but it will throw a constant CEL for internal ECU malfunction. The car will not be in limp mode, and will run fine, other than that it REQUIRES you to prime the fuel pump before it'll start. Strange, but from what I've heard, every de-immobilized gsr does that.
Personally, I've been driving mine like that for over a year. I've got a permanently mounted scantool in the din slot, so I just turn off the CEL after I start the car.
However, you can run a 2b and not throw a CEL. You have to replace the chip you removed with a dummy that returns the correct values to the ECU. I've never done it and don't have a supply of the chips, but I've seen them for sale in various places. If I was a better solderer, I'd consider it, but I had enough trouble desoldering my immobilizer without wrecking my ECU.
If you PM H-T user Katman, he used to offer this service for $100+ shipping. I don't know if he still does, but at the time I was doing mine, he said he could remove the IMM without a CEL.

Re: ek b18 R ecu question
what im more interested in, since im told the jdm ecu is not equiped withb an immobiliser system is if anyone knows if theres a chip that can be removed to disable the speed limiter.
i was suscessful with a small dc motor and 2 micro switches creating a pulse to ground but size was an issue, and quite noisy.
