I found this data on spring rates a while back and was wondering for those of you that have driven civics with both sportline springs and the pro-kit springs, how much different is the ride between the two? the prokit front rates are barely even stiffer than the sportline and the rear is much stiffer comparatively. I am looking for a good daily driver but I am definately into taking turns at speed so I want the great handing but dont wanna bounce around all the time, ya know chicks dont like that. I am going to also get the eibach shocks that are made for the springs. I guess my question is.. is the sportline kit real bouncy and an uncomfortable ride or just real stiff?

and also, since both kits use the same shocks do the sportlines allow less shock piston travel than the prokit? (due to the lower ride height)

I hope you got/getting shocks with the springs.
cause blown out shocks just sucks....no matter what springs u got.

I am also debating on whether i should get sportlines or pro kit. I have an 89 hatch. I am looking for 1.0"-1.5" drop and stiffer springs. I think sportlines are 2-2.5 inch drop and pro-kit are 1.5 inch??? Are all civic springs the same size? just different rates? If the sportline is a better handling ride, and the newer civic springs are just taller, I might get a ek sportline spring that will only drop my car 1.5 inch but give me the sportline feel. What do you guys think? Sorry to intrude on this post, but I think this is kinda on the same page.

I have Eibach pro-kit on my crx right now with kyb shocks they ride pretty good, I guess I just like the sleeper drop not too low.

It drops 1.2 inch in the front and 1.0 in the rear.

They also have Eibach Sportline springs which drops 1.7 inch in the front and 1.5 inch on the rear.

i daily drive my civic with sportlines and i think the ride is great. its not to bouncy its pretty firm

I really wasn't happy with the sportlines. They were a little too low/soft/bouncy. No good, IMO. Here's what my EM1 looked like on them:

The drop will depend on the car. The sportlines are supposed to be around a 2'' drop...but as you can see, my car was a lot lower than 2''. I bet it would lower a hatchbox around 2''. But since the EM1 is the heaviest 2dr civic...


I would suggest the pro kit. My friend had the pro kit on his 97 coupe and it rode like butter. They're both going to be soft soft soft...but whatever. You don't need eibach shocks. The pro kit will work just fine with stock shocks that aren't blown. You won't be able to tell the difference.

I think that looks too low as well, so the proline is the way to go it sounds like.

I know eibach has a complete set with matched shocks and proline springs, anyone try it?

Just like he said, and I had Eibach Sportline on my Integra and rode decent. Considering that my shocks had 155k on it. All in all, it could be better with newer oem shocks or decent aftermarket shocks. Plus, I had less than 30% of tread life so I could've use some new rubbers. I'll post a picture if I can find it.

P.S. - I would get the springs used and buy the shocks new or grab some Koni Yellows for the same price.

I've been riding on Sportlines with some Monroe shocks from O'Reilleys for the last two years and things are still going pretty well.
Although, since I drive a 4 door, the drop was a little more than advertised...some lower profile tires fixed that though ^^
(speedbumps aren't my friend XD; )

Just make sure you get a good camber kit with them or else you'll chew up your tires pretty quickly!

I had sportlines with kyb shocks and it was a comfotable ride with a nice drop. IMO sportlines with kyb agx's.

Incorect. You do not need a camber kit, PERIOD.

All you need to do is get your car aligned after you lower it. You may want to search before you start posting bull shit information.

(needed the kit on the rear to get back to within .75 degrees negative camber to keep from chewing up tires on mine...meh, maybe my car is just weird XD; )

i went with the pro kit and shocks for 400 bucks gotta be better than dropped on pos ebay sleeve kit on stock shocks my truck has a nicer ride

I've had both and I have Sportlines right now. Someone mentioned the Sportlines were bouncy and it's not the springs fault. Yes it will be bouncy if you have stock shocks or worn out shocks. I have the Sportline Kit with the Eibach Struts and it rides nice. Most people can't tell it's been lowered just by riding in it.
