Default EH3/EG6 Surging/low idle

Now I have done a search, there are so many different catergories that come up and none of the title really say what the topic is. This should make the search easier for someone else in the future.

Now, on a cold morning, the motor revs up to 2500rpms lowers about 300rpms then goes back up to 2500. It surges up and down like that as the car is warming. After the car is warm the car will idle right about being off. I'm not popping any codes, I've checked all my vaccum hoses and adjusted the screw on the throttle body, any suggestions?

is it a really slow surge, compared to a vacuum leak? check your plugs. i've heard bad/going bad spark plugs can lead to a slow bouncing idle when cold. there's a chance it could be your O2 sensor.. but that will usually throw a code

The coolant is topped off, do you think that I need to have it changed or what?

behind your intake mani is your idle air control valve. its held on by 1 10mm bolts. remove them and remove the two vaccum lines, and plug. you will see a little filter that is probly clogged up with ****. use a toothbrush or flat head and scrape that dirty **** out. spray some carb clean in it and in your itnake manifold. when you start up your car it will stall and act a little weird for 2 minutes then after that your idle will be coo. how do I know because I just did it

This is true. The same thing was happening to me, and I cleaned out the IACV and the FITV. Problem solved.

its friggin easy. you just need a 10mm socket and ratchet. also some pliers to undo the hose clamps. and you may have to squat on your engine to do it, space is limited

Fast Idle Thermo Valve. sits immediately UNDER the throttle body. The IACV is Behind The TB, facing the firewall. Sorry guys, no pics.

Fitv would be my guess also..

What we always do it just remove the valve and either fill the valve with jbweld or cut a beer can open and trim it down so that it covers the holes..

On my TB I just filled the holes in the TB and left the fitv off of it.. Youll just have to hold on the gas for like 5 secound after you start the car cold to keep it running, and I only have to do that when its cold outside.. Actually now I just compensate for it with my AEM EMS..
