EGR valve???

is there anyway I can test to see if it's opening or not? this is on my 98 EX coupe. just one of the variables i want to eliminate for my high NOx count. anyway, i know i need to check to see i get a good vacuum, but does anybody know if there is a specific rpm that it opens up @ or how i can even see if it's opening up?
