Default Re: EGR Vacuum Solenoid (treal_atl)

No EGR....

But really the EGR returns exhaust gases back into the intake manifold to lower combustion temp's.

So without the returned gases that the ECU is assuming are there you will have a rich condition when the EGR is suppose to be activated.

And you will have higher than normal combustion temps. Which inturn will raise your Nox or oxides of nitrogen coming out the tailpipe.

If the soleniod is still hooked up to the vacuum hose you could have a vacuum leak so until you fix it I would pull the vacuum hose that goes to the soleniod from the IM and plug it.

No real harm from it but I would say hit up a junkyard or something and fix it soon.
