i drive a 97 hx and was wanting to take the egr off of my car so that i may install a high flow fuel rail. Please help i am looking for ideas on what to put in its way when it is removed and what efects i will have if i use a block off plate. PLEASE RESPOND

I'm sure you can build a plate to block it off, but your ECU will throw a CEL for it...

Why are you putting in a high flow rail? Are running a form of forved induction that requires it or are you just putting it on to say you have one? Basically it it needed or just a bragging piece.

im a building a turbo for it right now so i am sure ill need a greater mass of fuel

Don't block off your EGR valve unless you are retarded. Its an important part of the car, but if you meant to say you want to relocate it your going to **** up the gasket and that should be replaced. If you need more help lemme know.

dont touch your egr valve unless you are a mechanic and feel the need to fabricate things. Is the fuel rail really necessary? How much boost are you running, why not just use larger injectors, the stock rail should suffice. Why would they make one that needs the EGR to be moved? That sounds stupid.

my car is an hx and the fuel rail is for an ex they do not make one for mine. My guess is because mine is Vtec-e. i already have the fuel rail and was told that it would make a great difference on my engine. I am running 8-9psi. Dont wanta put to much untill i build the internals. I plan on doing that this summer later on after i get my truck running. I am a second year student about to graduate for my associates degree as an auto mechanic. The fuel rail sits like 2 inches too long to fit my car i guess i could always make a bracket to rearrange the bolt holes to move the fuel rail over the other way so that i dont have to get rid of my egr.

I dont think you can get rid of your EGR no matter what. Didn't you learn what they do in mechanic school?

To be honest it would be hard because HX model civic are a fuel economy car so any mods my not change but hurt the drive of the car and usually when a car is build with an EGR system(exgsust gas recuirculating valve) it's best to leave it alone because4 without it u may not even pass emitions

i know what it does and my state does not have a law for emissions i was just wondering if it would be ok to move it. My class basically all the teacher will say is that if it can on the car the car needs it. He doesnt believe in modifying anything, he thinks that if it came that way it should stay that way.

NO! i would not remove it. If you want to be stubborn then go ahead and do it for a stupid fuel rail on a stock engine. Its there for a purpose. If you modify one thing, something else has to change so your teacher has a point. Not having the EGR valve will: 1. Throw a code. 2. Cause your engine to run funny. Thats my last thought on this topic.
