Default EG9 Exhaust Questions...

Alright guys, I'm new to this (well, it's been a while being away from the JDM world)

I picked up a '92 Si, and I'm thinking of getting an exhaust. The car is pretty stock, and I'd like to keep it looking that way if possible. Years of being in the Euro world opened my eyes to some pretty tasteful (looks and sound) exhausts. When I had my FC3S Rx7 from '97-'03, so many JDM exhaust seemed loud in obnoxious from what I recall.

However, 7 years later I'm sure many improvements have come about. So, without further hesitation, this is what I'm looking for and what I'm not looking for:

YES!
- Traditional muffler (high polished or matte black)
- 3"-3.25" Polished tip (Slant cut, Rolled edge or single walled is fine)
- QUIET!! :-) This will be more for asthetics than a "look-at-me" factor.
- No, or very little drone.

NO!
- Canister exhaust with CD-diameter tip. NO offense to those with them. They scream "lets race" and attract cops where I live. And, I think they look & sound hideous.

I've researched Twin-Loop exhausts, and they "sound" close to my tastes. Not feeling the tip on most (OBX and Mugen), and I think some butchered the install (some had a nice, tucked-away look...others look as though they used no exhaust hangers).

SO, with this all in mind, ANY ideas would be greatly appreciated. I presume a catback is out of the picture, and I should probably just get a muffler & weld on the tip of my choice. BUT, before I go there, just wanted some experienced opinions.

Thanks!

Maybe look into the ES Tuning mufflers? Also the apexi ws2 or greedy sp2 exhaust as well

Thanks for those choices!

ES Tuning muffler looked very nice, and sounded a bit louder than the Apexi...but quieter than the Greddy.

Apexi had the tip I LOVE! Quiet too.

Greddy....I have to admit, sounded good. A bit louder than my tastes, but wow. Throaty without sounding "farty." Tip was a bit too big (4" ??)

Of those choices, the Apexi is the leader. I heard a Tanabe RM exhaust, and it had the look too.

Thx again!!

Np. I've done research in the past about what is quiet and puts out the most performance . By far I like the twin loop the best. The sp2 and ws2 I mentioned aren't that big on perf. Because they retain the OEM canister style.

You make a good point. To be honest, I don't know if performance is a big factor in my exhaust quest. I kinda went through that with my BMW years ago, and realized the only real way for good power is through FI or an NA build. So my focus was mainly on looks, and sound. Not to say decent power CAN'T be found in an exhaust, but I completely get what you're saying.

The Twin loop is appealing. Quiet, and a bit more HP and a bit exotic regarding exhaust configurations. I've got some thinking to do, but those other choices were spot on. I had never heard of the models before now (WS2/ SP2 & ES)

Stay tuned.
