Default EG6 - SiR power folding mirrors

Do you need the relay box that comes with the mirrors to make them function? I found a set with the switch and mirrors but no relay box. The person told me all I have to do is get a relay at Radio Shack, is this true?

TIA!

Well you're gonna have to know a little about electronics if you want them to work with a relay from radio shack. I don't know what/how many relays are used in the oem piece, but I know it's not gonna work the same with just one relay, or hell maybe it would. I'd suggest finding the relay box though.

if you use the relay from radioshack...
for the mirrors to fold you must hold on to the button. once, the mirrors are all the way back and you release the button the mirrors will extend back to stock position.

if you use the stock relay box of the jdm chassis(sirII) push the button and the mirrors will fold and stay...push again the mirrors will go back to stock position.

Do you know where to find the OEM relay seperate? Because on Ebay for a set with OEM relay it costs around $225 bucks. All of the other sets are cheap but they dont have the relay.

what i would do is go to a alarm install place and get a window automation unit. This will give you one touch control and will auto maticly stop the moters when maxed out but you will have to play with the dip switches and maby even use a resistor to bump up the resistance, but this would make the mirrors slower. I do not know if this will work but it would be as close to factory as you could get with out the relays, but would be more expensive than a relay from radio shack and with this set up you could have mirrors fold in when you arm your alarm. I would wire this up on a bench to see if it worked before you run wires in to the doors and you might ask if the installers could give you some help as they will have mor of an idea of how these relay boxes work. if you need more help i can look at the window controlers at work and see if they could do it. I will need to know how many wires are on the mirrors and what they do, as far as the power folding option goes, and what they do,like what you need to do to fold in and what makes it fold out.

Thanks, it seems like its more of a hassle with out the OEM relay.. So I think I will just search for one. Thanks for the info though.

It is probably much easier and less aggrivating to do it with the stock relay. I have heard of it done these other ways, but to me it just seems easier to do it the way Honda intended it to be done...
