Default EG tranny/engine swap question from newb (Im a Lude guy)

MY buddy has a 94 civic 4dr DX (D15) as his winter beater (S2000 = summer car) and hes having tranny issues...

My question is will a D15 engine & tranny out of a 92 Hatch swap right into my buddies 4dr 94??? I figured it would, but somebody from a junk yard told him he can ONLY use a tranny from another 4dr that came w/a D15. Is this accurate??
THANKS!

all d-series are all interchangible, if your buddy with the 94 D-series motor, it will bolt right up to your beater!

Good... so the body style from hatch to 4dr & vice Versa makes no diff right? If they are both D series he is good to go?

Thanks!

All 92-00 D series trans will work and bolt up.

But they are not all identical when it comes to internals, ratios and things of that sort.

But the info the last couple guys have given are true.
