I had this problem on my '92 civic. I increased the idle speed and changed the PCV valve. It seemed to fix the problem. Now my A/C doesn't work.

It doesn not matter if you have a 1.6 or 2.4L. If your a/c is not serviced properly then its a pain in the butt.

In response to what SirRevvs said:
"I tend to blame it on the 8.8lb clutchmasters flywheel."
you know what... i do have an ACT prolite flywheel. is there anybody else who think this could be true? or is it a small engine thing?
thanks for the responses by the way. i'll clean that iacv soon and see if it helps

When you turn on the A/C, the ELD (Electronic Load Detector) detects a load. (duh, lol) it should step up the idle a hair by using the IACV if I remember correctly. So take out the IACV and clean it with sensor safe carb cleaner. Check the obvious items also, like plugs, wires, cap/rotor, air filter. Do you have a CAI installed? CAI's decrease the air velocity and can mess a tad with idle.

Re: (FizzGiGG55123)
Right but when you have a lightweight flywheel the engine slows down too fast when you disengage the clutch so it tends to stall (my theory). Only happens when the A/C is on (engine under load)

that's actually plausible. I have an 8 lb flywheel and I have the same problem.. only happens when I rev REALLY quickly, then let off completely
