Eg springs/shocks
Before any1 stats calling me a newbie or any other names
out there i want you guys to know this is more of me asking,
"what would you do".. or better yet, "how bad will it be?"
type of thread.. (oppinion)
OK so i want to lower my 92 eg si hatch. i have plenty of goodies
on it but i havent messed with the suspension because it rides
so smooth.. but thats about 1 of the only things i have left to do.
The stock spings are making my meshies look ugly!> in other words.
its a offroading eg hatch..
I honestly dont have the money like most of you to waste 500-800
dollars on skunk 2 lowering springs and shocks... So i gave it some
thought on buying some e-gay shocks and coilovers, but i c alot of
ppl saying negative things, and considering almost everybody that
says negative things about them, most of them never even had these.
in other words ppl talk out of theyre *** so i want some ppl with
hands on experience..
I was also considering just burning the damn springs and leaving the
shocks. thats what my brother has done with his old da and ef hatch,
they both ran smooth with hardly any problem... considering the fact
that every1 claims ebay coilovers blow stock shocks i was considering
just burning them...
So like i said, i dont have the money to waste on top brand. So i just
want your guyses oppinion or experience on this..
from ebay ****.
to burnt.. or whatever the case, thanks in advanced

I have a friend who cut his springs on his Integra and has no problem going on 5 years now (he doesn't do any kind of racing). I've rode in the car and it rides almost like stock. I might be crazy but I swear I've seen them do this on a car show, I think it was on "Pimp My Ride".

LOL.... Good suspension is wasted money.....LOL
What would you consider an investment?
I find it very funny that people will spend $500 on a Greddy catback, $250 on a CAI, or even $3k on a turbo, but they won't save for extremely important parts like suspension, brakes, and tires.
If you are that cheap then cut your springs. When you bounce off the road or under-steer your way into a bridge embankment, don't say your weren't warned....:D
In all honesty, for a budget daily driver I would recommend Tokico blues and Tokico springs. If you plan on keeping your car for awhile then save for good suspension parts. No one says you have to spend $800. But there are so many better options then ebay crap and cutting your springs.

i had to make this same decision for my eg hatch as well, but i never would've even considered in a million years cutting my springs or buying some cheap quality ebay crap.
i resulted in purchasing some tein s-tech springs and installing them on my stock shocks. i searched around for the best price from a certified tein seller and ended up getting them for only $143!
the springs gave my hatch a nice subtle drop about 1.8 inches in the front and 1.7 inches in the rear. they are more firm then stock springs but not too stiff. handling is great and the ride is very smooth. good luck on your decision.

you dont have to spend a bunch of money to drop it, but cheap ebay crap will destroy your tires, struts, and whatever else gets in their way when they inevitably start to sag in 3 months.....do what mizzo said and you will be fine....I rocked a set of sportlines on stock struts for years without any problems (I had a ls eg, if your wooried about any extra weight up front).....how much money have you spent on the rest of the car? just think about that before you get all ricey and decide to cut/burn your springs....that is a hackjob way of doing things and it can be a safety issue
