Make a list of what you want the car to look like, what parts you want, and what you want it to do. Then stay to that list, otherwise what you have planned now may never happen and the project will become more expensive. I've learnt from this lesson that hard way.

But thats not a bad price, since you are able to fix the rust yourself. You might be able to find a good condition windshield from an AutoWreckers for very cheap, I know out here I can get one for $30.

Thats not a bad look at all and very conservative.
Most kids want to put the biggest wings, kannards, and want to try to get the most HP shoved under the hood.
Nice to know you have some simple goals here and have your dad an grandfather to help you out.
Building this will bring some fond memories for the three of you.

thank you, much appreciated!
i like the look of a clean car, simple and sexy.
it was realy the first time i could demonstrate my skills from my trade outside of school, and i had a low budget, wich meant i had to do all the work myself, so i did, soldered some fuel lines replaced a couple ball joints and welded the floor and quarters, kept my mind off things while studying physics, helps that my dad has some good ideas and a garage bigger then his house lol

Huh, I guess after seeing a lowered Civic for so long, you start thinking stock height is lifted lol. Good luck with the build though.
