Default Eg to Ek front swap???

I was wondering how hard it is to change out the front end of my 92 hatchback with a 99 hatchback. I ran into a deal of $50 for a hood, fenders, bumper, and lights off of a 99 hatch and in the past i have seen it done but I didn't know if anybody has had experience doing it and what all is involved? Major body work maybe with the front bumper and lights???? If anybody has any pics or knowledge I could use all I can get. Thanks again for your time.

sounds like it would be awfully hard to do but i have seen a crx with a 96-98 front on it so im sure it could be done.

need the bumper support i believe too. 50 bucks is good for the parts, you could always resell them. im not a fan of front end swaps, but sounds like you can do it cheap.

Yeah I think I need the bumper support also. I think what has to be done is cut off the cross member peices and weld them back onto the eg but I am not 100% about that. That is why I was asking because it almost seems like more work than what it is worth. Thanks again for all the knowledge out there.

You need the 99 radiator support to do the conversion. Heres a good write up, http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/278372/7 Ive seen a few cars up close with the conversion and it looks good.

Thanks a lot for that link. It was very helpful on what to do step by step. It looks to be what I thought in the first place, you have to cut off where the stock core support is welded on and line the new one up and spot weld it in the place of the other. For the common day person like myself that really doesn't have a lot of experience with welding or body work it seems like quite a task and I am not sure I am up to it but thanks for all the help.

yea there is quite alot of welding and bodywork involved. your better off getting all the parts together and shopping around to see how much shops will charge you.
