Default EG DX sedan, hamster wheel noise.

It has a fresh headgasket and timing belt with 140k miles. The A/C and powersteering are no longer in the vehicle. I didn't do the water pump or the timing belt tensioner pulley because they seemed to be in good shape. I noticed when I accelerate I will hear sort of a hamster wheel noise every now and again. It is RPM based which leads me to believe it is something in the timing belt/waterpump area. I didn't flush my coolant system when the head was off either. I am wondering if it might just be crud floating around my water pump, the sound of a tensioner pulley going out, water pump failing, or something of that nature. It doesn't effect the temp gauge or power, it just sounds like something that I should tend to before it causes something to fail. What do you think it could be?
