EG A/C Question
I am really looking to put air conditioning in my EG, and I want to know EXACTLY what I need to do that.
It is an Si model, so it came with A/C from the factory. The previous owner basically just ripped everything out and bent lines and stuff. The car also has a B16 in it now rather than a Z6.
It is also a 1992 model, so it came with R12 from the factory, and I want it to be R134A because that is more serviceable and just better all around, based on what I hear anyway.
My question is, can I just bolt everything from an Integra or EG up to it? Or do I have to do something special to make it R134A?
It is far too hot in Kentucky to not have A/C. Any help is appreciated.

Re: EG A/C Question
Your stuck with a situation I was in sir. Your evaporator is R-12 and will not work with R-134A components. Also, the R-134A evaporators different from passenger airbag and no passenger airbag. So you can either put all R-12 components in and convert it to R-134A (My opinion cheaper, R-12 parts are stupid cheap) Or get all R-134A compents including evaporator. That also includes the blower and heater assembly. You will also need a 93-97 Del Sol A/C bracket to fit a D-series compressor on the B16. -Later, BR
***Edit. i meant EVAPORATOR not CONDENSER**

Re: EG A/C Question
basic rundown of what you will need:
condenser - part next to radiator, looks like radiator - for civic
compressor - d series will work
compressor bracket from a del sol vtec - p30 part number
belt - for del sol vtec
tensioner for belt - can use d-series
reciever/dryer - for civic
o-rings - can buy a kit, or look up pn's
suction line from evaporator (if cut) - evaporator is under dash in the box - civic
pressure line to evaporator (if cut) - civic
suction line to compressor - civic
pressure line to compressor - civic
you will need to install everything, and have an ac shop draw the system into a vacuum for at least 30 mins to remove the moisture from an open system - do this asap, as it could ruin your reciever/dryer if you wait several days. after the system is vac'ed, install 4 oz pag oil (honda tsb for ac retrofit is found on google) and the proper 1.2 lbs of r134.
system should function normally assuming that the wiring and switches are functioning. if not, you will have to track down what is missing.
btw - integra stuff won't work, as it is different enough from the civic stuff...
