You know, as I have still never figured it out me and my friend both have hatch's and we were walking through the local junkyard and found a hatch with rear speaker covers. the one that pop out were those wires you are talking about are and there not jdm cause the jdm ones actually sit on top of that cover but all the research i have done to find a model or year that comes with that bracket I never could find it. but it does exist and is usdm.

the EK has the speakers up on the top behind the rear seat by the hatch glass. the eg has them next to the rear seat above the arm rest. im sure that you could fab something up to make it work, but dont cut up that cargo cover. if you are going to do that sell the OEM one to someone on here and buy a CF or fiberglass one off ebay. those things are way to valuble to be cutting up. and to boot the OEM ones are dying. sad but all he cool old school honda stuff is getting harder and hareder to find.

Re: EG! (sanegb16)
if you go with a gathers "jdm" unit make sure you get the curved pannel ones....
usdm civics had a option for a single speaker in the rear. Thats what I have in mine

Does anyone have pics? I had to buy mine from the dealer and the only option they showed me was a single speaker on each side in the rear. But I have seen a pic of dual speakers in the rear.

Correct. The HOP USDM civic parts are just a single 5.25 speaker. The "jdm" gathers speaker pods are 2x 5.25 speakers if I remember right. The flat pannels are for the JDM interior and the curved pannels are for the USDM style interior

Re: EG! (pynikal)
My CX didnt have the actual speakers in the rear, but there was wiring back there for speakers as well as the factory mounting hardware for the speakers. All I had to do was hook up the wires to my speaker, then put the screws for the speaker in.
