ok this information is wrong.

my wife has a 97 del sol, and in 96 they changed motors, and therefore have the same motors as the civic. i tried to go and take a picture of it, but it's dark, and it didn't come out, but i know for a fact that the del sols in 96-97 had the d16y7, and d16y8...

if someone has doubts i can try and retake the picture of it in the morning, but i'm 100% positive on this

You've got some good info there, but too bad no one will ever be able to search for this thread again unless they type in "EXPLAINED". I'd suggest changing the title if you can do that..

Or you can just search for "chassis codes" and get the thread from which the thread starter copied and pasted the info from.

First of all you can't/didn't change the title of this thread... don't believe me, look at the name of this thread in the Civic Forum now to see what i mean.

And secondly, it's spelled "Chassis" not "Chasis."

Here's an easier way...look at digits 4-6 on your VIN. That, my friends, is your chassis code.

7th-gen codes are incomplete. G7 CTR is EP3, and there is no K20C1 engine.

Correct, no D15 in North America after 1995.

'93-95 USDM del Sol S used the D15B7, '96-97 used the D16Y7
'93-95 USDM del Sol Si used the D16Z6, '96-97 used the D16Y8
'94-95 USDM del Sol VTEC used the B16A3, '96-97 used the B16A2

6th generation column, 96-97 del sol si's come with a d16y8 and have the same chassis (incl 4 wheel discs, suspension, power options, etc) as the 96-97 VTEC model.

I'm 100% positive on this. http://www.teamdelsol.com also has data on this.

A bit confused..

I got this:
D17A1- 1.7L SOHC non-VTEC '01+ Civic DX/LX (115hp)
D17A2- 1.7L SOHC VTEC-E 01 Civic EX (127hp)

from http://www.superhonda.com/foru...69891

which would suggest my '03 EX coupe with the VTEC 127hp 1.7L engine is a D17A2... but according to your list, mine is actually an A1. Also, isn't VTEC-E the engine for HX?

not but it was changed over to OBDII and started using the newer d's like the d16y7 (someone else posted this) and the d16y8
*edit* and they changed the front bumper, got rid of those ugly aux lights...

Where did I go wrong? Somewhere on here I was told all 92-95's were EG's. Thus my login. Now I discover my 94 Coupe is not an EG. What gives?

like someone else said. Look at your VIN# . . . 4-6 is what you have . . .

So, nobody in the US actually has an EK (except the few CTR's that are here)?? Strange!
