is this the JDM d15b vtec? If so use a p06 with an OBDII-to-OBDI harness.

for emmisions, you might have to run the 96-00 EX ecu, since that is a sohc vtec ecu.

the obd2a route (what your car is wired for at the moment): a P2E would be your best bet. it's out of a 96-98 civic or 96-97 del sol S. if you don't have VTEC, it would be your best option. if you DO have a D15b VTEC engine, you should be able to run in on a D16y8 computer - which would be a P2P.

the OBD1 route: a p06 ECU will not control VTEC. if you have a JDM D15b VTEC engine, I would try your luck at sourcing a P08 ECU, or at least using a P28 and chipping it with a factory P08 program. if you don't have a VTEC engine, a p06 should work ok. jumper harness will be necessary no matter which way you go. .

edit: there may be an issue with a knock sensor if the D15b doesn't have one. might have to go OBD1 for the best result and no CEL's.

if you have to use the P06 just add the Vtec components

it's a JDM D15B engine from 96-00 civic in JAP and yes it's Vtec. The Y8 Vtec is different from the D15B since D15B is running 3 stage vtec and i'm wondering what's the different between the 3 stage vtec and the Y8 vtec????????

sry about the newbie question

obd2-1 harness + p08 or 28/w chip for you then. Or p28 and run aftermarket management.

Only for the OBD-1 '92-'95 version.

He has two VTEC solenoids, which most refer to as three stage VTEC.

I would use a P72 or modified P28 with IAB enabled to run this motor. I would hijack the IAB control to actuate the the first stage at 2200 RPM, going from 12 valve operation to 16. Then at 5000 I would use the VTEC output to switch to the VTEC lobe on the intake cam. I recommend starting with a OEM P08 map and wideband tuning it to that engine. I have yet to see the proper OBD-2 ECU here in the states.

Yea u should stick with local engines to avoid more headaches. It's just easy to get a Y8 swap or long block here & everything will pretty much go plug & play. Spend some other $ on getting timing belt service done, & put in new clutch & flywheel etc instead. A 92-93Si tranny with 4.25 FD would give u more difference than a JDMMMMM D15B block......IMHO

Why go D15B for the bling bling JDM title!?

P08 is not the ecu. This engine was also made 96-00. We all know the 92-95 D15B ECU is P08, but the 96-00 is ??? i don't know The only thing I know is that it came in 4 door ferios. I've seen them

the D15B has a very agressive cam that creates that high bhp rating, but in general

1.6L > 1.5L

good luck sourcing the jdm EK d15b w/3-stage vtec. it really isn't a performance motor..... it's really meant to be fuel efficient and technologically innovative. just stick with a d16y8. you'll save yourself a lot of headache and wind up making more power. heck, just swap in a b18b. it'll barely cost more.
