because you are not using the right VTEC ecu.

you will need one from a OBD2 ECU or get a conversion harness that converts OBD2 to OBD1

well, alot of ppl prefer using obd1 for some reason. but i guess if he doesnt then he can just use a OBD2 ecu probably from a 99-00 Civic Si or one from a OBD2 B18c1 ECU

to answer the why people prefer using obd1 it is because you have a lot more tuning options with that than with obd2. more stand-alone engine management systems use obd1 than obd2

get a b16 engine harness with a obd2b ecu.....or u can get a conversion harness from OBD2A TO OBD2B AND just get a 99-00 SI ECU....the right ecu for the motor plus if u need one let me know...

if you want to stay OBD2 get a 99-00 Si ECU (P2T) with a OBD2A-->B conversion harness, or get a OBD2A P30 from a delsol VTEC (good luck finding one of these)

there is no ****** such thing as a pr3 ecu!!!

if you want any chance at all to pass emissions you need to stay OBD2, but OBD1 will always be better for tuning

P30 OBDIIA ECU I'd think.

Matches to the del Sol VTEC B16A3.

Hi everyone...great site! First post here.

Anyways I recently swapped a JDM B16a into my '98 civic ex coupe and I am looking for the correct ecu. I'm currently using an odb II ecu from an Integra Type-R, which as some pretty heavy downsides. First the car runs very rich, and kinda has a smelly exhaust, second VTEC doesn't kick in till 6,000 rpm(which may be normal for the b16), third and worst of all, my car revs out to 9,200 rpms which is less than ideal for the b16.

I've been looking all over the internet for an obd II b16 ecu but haven't had any luck. I found plenty of obd I ecus...but I need my car to pass inspection. Does anyone here know of a company or website the outright sells obd II jdm/usdm b16a ecus? Any info would be much appreciated!
