Default which ecu to use

well ok since summer i've been rebuilding a B16A2 motor, and i'm curious what ecu i should use. A lot of my friends say use a 98 - 01 gsr ecu, and i was thinkin since my motor besides the head and block, are all mostly 99 - 00 si parts that i would get that SI ecu. I was told from a local shop that i shouldn't get the b16a ecu because its only meant for right hand drive cars .... so any advice would be good now.

Dont know if your running OBD2 or 1. Either way get a p28. if you got OBD2 you need the conversion harness.

A GSR ecu would be the last thing that I would get for that motor.

If you want a plug and play ecu, get a P28 that's been rechipped for a dohc motor.

If you plan on getting hondata, you're gonna have to get a P28 anyway. So, might as well do it now.

Because a P28 is easy as **** to chip...it can be chipped easily for any VTEC motor, SOHC or DOHC

you buy a chipped P28...they solder a chip to the circuitboard that has a different program designed for your motor (different VTEC engagement, fuel curves, etc)

For instance...check out what EG6AJK has for sale: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=430594

Search "ECU chipping" under archived content and you'll find a ton of stuff

Also, check out http://www.hondata.com
