Ecu type??
i have a 93 eg with b18c just got hondata s300 for it but it came with a ecu with the serial number ripped off and its chipped for a eg with b18c how would i find out what ecu it is without the serial number??

Well i dont need it and want to sell it dont want to give wrong info on the ecu so would like to know since i have a hondata s300 and is no use to me but could be to someone else

The serial number on the case is just the serial number of where the case came from. If you unscrew the case the real number on the PCB is shown at the top by the connectors.

because it really doesn't matter when you have it chipped, since they are all the same in the end. you can make a non-vtec ecu a vtec ecu, an automatic ecu into a manual, etc.

Because when you have it socketted and chipped the only thing you need to know about it is what EMS is on it. So no. It matters absolutely not one iota. It's just unnecessary extra info. If the person you're selling it is knowledgeable they should know that.
